Electronic Hardware Engineer

About the role

We are seeking an Electronic Hardware Engineer to join a specialist engineering team in Yateley. The successful candidate will design, develop and test complex electronic hardware for advanced systems, supporting the full product lifecycle from concept through production and ongoing maintenance.

Key responsibilities

• Capture schematics and design analogue and digital circuits.
• Create multi‑layer PCB layouts and manage design documentation.
• Perform testing, fault finding and debugging of hardware prototypes.
• Develop firmware and assist with FPGA design.
• Support product launch, production hand‑over and lifecycle maintenance.
• Develop test procedures and equipment, and resolve technical issues.

Required profile

• Degree in Electronic Engineering or a related discipline (2:1 or higher).
• Proven experience in electronic hardware design.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.
• Self‑motivated with a proactive approach to learning.

Required skills

• Schematic capture and analogue/digital circuit design.
• Multi‑layer PCB layout using tools such as Altium Designer.
• Testing, fault finding and debugging of electronic hardware.
• Firmware development and embedded C/C++ programming.
• FPGA design using VHDL and Intel Quartus.
• Experience with communication protocols (SPI, I²C, RS‑232, RS‑485, Ethernet).
• Design for Test (DFT) and production validation processes.
