EL/PL Liability Adjuster

About the role

We are partnering with one of the UK’s largest independent loss adjusting firms to recruit an experienced EL/PL Liability Adjuster. The role offers a hybrid working model based in Whiteley/London and involves managing a varied portfolio of complex Employers’ and Public Liability claims.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of complex EL/PL claims from notification through to settlement, including high‑value and litigated cases.
• Lead detailed investigations into liability, quantum and policy coverage, applying current legislation and case law.
• Set, review and justify reserves to reflect exposure at all claim stages.
• Develop and execute claim strategies to achieve efficient, cost‑effective resolutions.
• Coordinate with solicitors, experts and other third parties throughout the claim lifecycle.
• Identify and investigate suspected fraudulent or exaggerated claims and take appropriate action.
• Negotiate robustly to secure optimal outcomes for clients.
• Provide technical guidance to less‑experienced team members and maintain comprehensive claim files in line with regulatory standards.

Required profile

• Proven experience in liability adjusting, handling EL/PL claims, including complex and litigated matters.
• Strong technical knowledge of liability, quantum and relevant case law.
• Experience managing reserves and claim strategy.
• Background in insurance, loss adjusting or legal environments.
• Ability to work autonomously and build strong stakeholder relationships.
