Embedded Linux Engineer – 6-Month Contract

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Embedded Linux Engineer for a 6‑month contract to help modernise and optimise a recently migrated embedded Linux platform. The role starts with a week onsite in Abingdon (or Scarborough) before moving to remote work.

Key responsibilities

• Review and enhance the existing Embedded Linux implementation.
• Update the architecture using modern best practices and Buildroot.
• Improve performance, stability and real‑time capabilities.
• Collaborate closely with hardware and firmware teams throughout the development lifecycle.
• Develop and maintain Board Support Packages, device drivers and bootloader configurations.

Required profile

• Strong commercial experience developing Embedded Linux solutions.
• Proficiency with Buildroot, Embedded C/C++ and Linux kernel configuration.
• Hands‑on experience with real‑time Linux tuning and optimisation.
• Solid background in ARM‑based platforms, BSP development and hardware bring‑up.
• Ability to work with cross‑compilation toolchains and Git version control.
