Emergency Call Handler – North ACC (Inverness)

About the role
Join the Scottish Ambulance Service as an Emergency Call Handler in the North Ambulance Control Centre (ACC) based in Inverness. You will be the first point of contact for 999 callers, providing life‑saving advice, triage and coordination with ambulance crews and other emergency services.
Key responsibilities
- Answer emergency (999) calls promptly and professionally.
- Prioritise calls, deliver first‑aid and medical advice, and provide life‑support guidance.
- Coordinate with ambulance crews, police and other emergency services to ensure rapid response.
- Maintain accurate records of calls and actions taken.
- Work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends and bank holidays.
Required profile
- Minimum typing speed of 30 words per minute with 90% accuracy (assessment required for non‑ACC applicants).
- Ability to work effectively under pressure with minimal supervision.
- Excellent communication and rapid decision‑making skills.
- Experience dealing with the public in a healthcare, contact‑centre or face‑to‑face environment is desirable.
- Willingness to travel to the North ACC in Inverness.
Required skills
- Proficient typing (30 wpm, 90% accuracy).
