Employee Relations Consultant – 6‑Month Fixed‑Term

About the role

The Employee Relations Consultant provides professional advisory support to managers, helping them resolve employee relations cases efficiently and in line with best practice. This six‑month fixed‑term position works closely with business areas and the People Services team to deliver consistent outcomes for both the organisation and its staff.

Key responsibilities

• Offer expert advice on employee relations matters such as absence, discipline, capability, redundancy appeals, probation, flexible working, settlements and employment law.
• Review investigation reports, complex correspondence and make recommendations on employment law claims.
• Identify, assess, manage, resolve and, where necessary, escalate risks associated with employee relations cases.
• Ensure cases are handled efficiently, meet team KPIs and are recorded in compliance with GDPR.
• Partner with specific business areas to produce monthly ER dashboards, attend meetings and drive insight‑based improvements.
• Collaborate with HR Consultants and HR Partners to foster a culture of continuous improvement.
• Develop and maintain case‑management systems and reporting tools to enhance case handling.
• Provide live coaching, support and challenge to managers to build their ER capability.
• Lead or contribute to project and continuous‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Customer‑focused and highly organised professional.
• In‑depth knowledge of employee relations and extensive experience in case management.
• Strong understanding of employment legislation and ability to keep knowledge up to date.
• Ability to work collaboratively across business areas and HR functions.
• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and GDPR compliance.
