Employee Relations & Engagement Specialist

About the role

Our client, a people‑led organisation with a strong heritage, is seeking an experienced Employee Relations & Engagement Specialist to support its growth and shape best‑practice people initiatives. This field‑based role involves regular travel across the UK, providing hands‑on ER support and partnering with HR and operational leaders.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver pragmatic advice on employee relations and engagement, ensuring compliance with legislation and alignment with business objectives.
• Collaborate with HR specialists on initiatives covering Employee Relations, Wellbeing, Diversity & Inclusion, and Reward Review, and maintain policies and procedures.
• Contribute to cross‑functional HR projects, supporting continuous improvement and employee engagement.
• Manage day‑to‑day ER activity, including complex casework, escalations and tribunal support.
• Design and deliver ER training for HR teams and line managers.
• Assist external solicitors with tribunal cases, preparation and settlement discussions.
• Provide on‑site ER support for high‑risk or urgent issues across the estate, often at short notice.

Required profile

• Strong background in commercially focused ER advice on complex and escalated cases.
• Proven experience managing Employment Tribunal cases.
• Experience working with trade unions and handling dispute resolution.
• Track record of creating and delivering ER‑related training.
• Confident communicator with strong influencing and presentation skills.
• Highly organised with excellent planning and analytical abilities.
• Resilient, adaptable and comfortable in a fast‑paced, field‑based environment.
• Full UK driving licence.
