Employee Relations Specialist – Global ER SME

About the role

Wise May Ltd is recruiting on behalf of a global reinsurance client for an Employee Relations Specialist at AVP level. You will act as the international subject‑matter expert, designing and embedding a new service‑delivery framework that supports employees and managers across the International region.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement the Enterprise Employee Relations framework, ensuring alignment with regional employment regulations and global strategy.
• Create, maintain and continuously improve ER standards, processes and tools, including templates for disciplinary actions, performance management and involuntary separations.
• Lead complex workplace investigations, covering harassment, discrimination, GDPR and regulatory matters, and produce detailed reports with recommendations.
• Provide expert ER advice to specialists and act as an escalation point within a tiered support model.
• Monitor and evaluate ER program effectiveness, reporting on case trends, risk indicators and external counsel usage.
• Serve as a trusted advisor in business discussions, offering insights on emerging workplace risks and trends.
• Design and deliver ER training for managers and employees, ensuring consistency with global curricula.
• Stay abreast of regional legal and regulatory developments in partnership with country teams.

Required profile

• Significant experience in employee relations, preferably within an international or global organisation.
• Proven ability to lead high‑risk investigations and manage complex employee matters.
• Strong knowledge of UK employment law, GDPR and other regional regulations.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills, working closely with HR Business Partners, Legal and People Experience Operations.
• Strategic mindset with the capability to develop frameworks and drive continuous improvement.
