Energy Plant Operator – United Kingdom

About the role

Our client, a leading specialist in animal by‑products and renewable energy in the United Kingdom, processes over 1.25 million tonnes of waste each year. They are seeking an Energy Plant Operator to ensure the reliable operation of processing facilities across the UK, supporting sustainability and high‑quality production.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and maintain equipment such as rotary kilns and boilers.
• Perform regular safety checks, clean and service machinery.
• Read charts, meters and gauges to monitor electricity flow and steam output.
• Adjust controls to regulate steam distribution and respond to system failures.
• Identify and rectify electrical or mechanical faults to prevent breakdowns.
• Log major repair needs, unsafe conditions and implement contingency plans during emergencies.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a plant operator or in a similar industrial role.
• Familiarity with boiler operation and maintenance.
• Mechanical knowledge of gearboxes, transmitters, lubrication and bearing replacement.
• Electrical knowledge including sensor connections, fuse replacement and multimeter diagnostics.

Required skills

• Boiler operation and accreditation (BOAS) – desirable.
• Automation control of motors.
• Thermodynamics of steam production, temperature and pressure management.
• Bio‑fuel combustion principles – desirable.
