Engineering Labourer / Fettler

About the role

We are seeking a reliable Engineering Labourer to support the daily operations of a busy machine shop in Basildon. The role involves hands‑on work in a safe, clean environment and offers full training on CNC equipment, making it ideal for someone eager to start a career in precision engineering.

Key responsibilities

• Fill CNC machines with oils and coolants.
• Fettle and deburr machined components.
• Operate a bandsaw safely and efficiently.
• Assist with CNC machine operation (training provided).
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation throughout the workshop.
• Sweep floors and keep work areas safe.
• Support machinists and the production team with general workshop duties.
• Follow all health and safety procedures.

Required profile

• Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
• Strong work ethic and reliability.
• Comfortable performing physical work in an engineering environment.
• Team‑player with good attention to detail.
• Awareness of health and safety practices.

Required skills
