Engineering Labourer – Machine Shop Support

About the role

We are seeking a reliable Engineering Labourer to join a busy machine shop in Basildon. The role supports daily workshop operations, helping to keep the environment safe, clean, and efficient while you gain hands‑on experience in precision engineering.

Key responsibilities

• Fill CNC machines with oils and coolants.
• Fettle and deburr machined components.
• Operate a bandsaw safely and efficiently.
• Assist with CNC machine operation (full training provided).
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation throughout the shop.
• Sweep floors and ensure work areas remain safe.
• Support machinists and the production team with general workshop duties.
• Follow all health and safety procedures.

Required profile

• Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
• Strong work ethic and reliability.
• Comfortable performing physical work in an engineering workshop.
• Team‑player with good attention to detail.
• Awareness of health and safety practices.

Required skills

• CNC machine handling (training provided).
• Bandsaw operation.
