Engineering Lead – Risk & Controls (Hybrid, £515/day)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Lead to drive the Risk & Controls workstream of a large‑scale enterprise transformation programme. You will provide technical leadership across multiple delivery teams, ensuring that solutions meet regulatory, risk and governance standards while supporting the modernisation of BB applications.

Key responsibilities

• Lead engineering efforts across several delivery teams within the Risk & Controls stream.
• Define, implement and enforce engineering standards, development processes, risk controls and architectural best practices.
• Ensure compliance with coding, deployment, security and operational governance frameworks.
• Assess regulatory changes and their impact on applications, processes and delivery practices.
• Collaborate with risk, compliance, audit, architecture and product teams to align technology with enterprise requirements.
• Act as senior escalation point for technical, controls‑related and production incidents.
• Design and guide scalable integration solutions using APIs, middleware, event‑driven platforms and external systems.
• Conduct architecture, code and technical design reviews, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a senior technical leadership role such as Engineering Lead, Technical Lead or Principal Engineer.
• Strong background in backend software engineering and enterprise integration.
• Demonstrated ability to work on large, regulated transformation programmes.
• Excellent communication and mentoring skills to guide engineering teams.
