Engineering Lead – Sterile Services (Full‑time)

About the role

This full‑time Engineering Lead position supports the Braintree Ramsay Decontamination Hub, delivering maintenance, testing, validation and breakdown assistance for sterile services equipment. You will work closely with the Group Estates Manager and other lead engineers, both on‑site and remotely, to ensure safe and efficient plant operation.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance as defined in SOP manuals.
• Perform statutory insurance inspections and resolve any remedial actions.
• Provide a customer‑focused service to minimise production delays and manage unplanned outages.
• Participate in governance meetings, on‑call rota and health‑and‑safety compliance activities.
• Act as first point of contact for external contractors, ensuring permits to work are authorised.
• Develop knowledge of neighbouring hospitals to support emergency assistance.
• Train and mentor apprentices and help reduce reliance on external contractors.

Required profile

• City & Guilds Part 1/2, NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent, preferably in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• Comprehensive understanding of health and safety legislation.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
• Experience in fault finding and coordinating contractors or service engineers.
