Engineering Manager – Lead Remote Engineering Team

About the role

Stora is building the operating platform for modern self‑storage businesses. We are a product‑led, remote‑first company looking for an Engineering Manager to lead and develop our growing engineering organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Manage approximately 12 engineers across three product teams, providing regular 1:1s, coaching and clear feedback.
• Own the engineering performance and progression framework, reviewing career levels and promotion decisions.
• Lead hiring efforts with Tech Leads, define hiring needs, assess candidates and ensure effective onboarding.
• Monitor team health, engagement and remote culture, addressing people issues and supporting collaboration.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing software engineers across multiple teams or product areas.
• Strong track record of developing engineers at various career stages and handling performance issues.
• Hands‑on engineering background sufficient to understand code and contribute to technical discussions.

Required skills

• Experience with Ruby or Rails (useful but not essential).
• Familiarity with backend technologies such as Rails, PostgreSQL, Redis, Sidekiq, TimescaleDB.
• Knowledge of frontend technologies like React, Turbo, ViewComponents, Sass.
