Engineering Manager (NPI, Mechanical Design, Technical)

About the role

We are seeking an Engineering Manager to lead new product introduction (NPI) and mechanical design activities for a fast‑growing precision metal fabrication company based in Chester. The role combines technical expertise with leadership of a small engineering team to deliver safety‑critical components for high‑integrity industries.

Key responsibilities

• Manage end‑to‑end NPI projects, ensuring on‑time delivery, budget compliance and alignment with customer specifications.
• Validate product manufacturability through DFMEA, DFM and PFMEA analyses.
• Lead a team of engineers in the development and optimisation of new and existing product ranges.
• Provide technical support to customers, interpreting drawings and resolving product issues.
• Coordinate cross‑functional teams—including engineering, manufacturing and supply‑chain—to meet project milestones.
• Maintain project schedules, risk assessments and progress reporting.
• Identify and implement process improvements to increase production efficiency.
• Serve as the primary contact for internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives across engineering and manufacturing.

Required profile

• Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Proven experience managing NPI projects within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and develop engineering teams.
• Strong understanding of quality standards and safety‑critical product requirements.
• Excellent communication skills for interfacing with customers, suppliers and internal teams.
