Engineering Operator Technician – Electrical Maintenance

About the role

Reporting to the Reliability Manager in the brewing department, the Engineering Operator Technician (Electrical Technician) provides multi‑skilled support for a continuous brewing production plant. The role focuses on both planned and reactive maintenance of utilities and production equipment, ensuring efficiency, quality and cost control.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs on electrical and PLC‑controlled systems, including Allen‑Bradley PLCs.
• Diagnose and repair single‑ and three‑phase supplies, instrumentation, and loop‑control devices.
• Maintain and calibrate instruments, record all activities in SAP CMMS, and manage spares and OEM liaison.
• Support safety and quality procedures, conduct risk assessments for ATEX and explosive dust areas.
• Participate in continuous improvement projects, quality inspections and plant optimisation initiatives.

Required profile

• Proactive, self‑managed engineer with a can‑do attitude and strong communication skills.
• Understanding of HACCP, food safety protocols and health & safety standards in a brewing environment.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize workload and collaborate across multiple departments.

Required skills

• Recognised apprenticeship, NVQ3 or equivalent electrical qualification (ONC).
• PLC programming and network configuration, preferably with Allen‑Bradley controllers.
• I.E.E. 17th Edition knowledge for work in explosive dust (ATEX) areas.
• Experience with CMMS, specifically SAP, for maintenance planning and record‑keeping.
• Knowledge of loop control, instrumentation devices and plant optimisation tools.
