Engineering Purchasing Assistant

About the role
This is a newly created position within an established engineering manufacturer, supporting the procurement of specialist engineering products as the business continues to grow.
Key responsibilities
- Generate and process purchase orders based on production forecasts.
- Monitor inventory levels, manage reorder points and address stockouts or overstocks.
- Request proof of deliveries, resolve discrepancies and handle damaged goods.
- Negotiate pricing, delivery terms and lead times with suppliers.
- Track the status of all outstanding orders.
- Produce weekly stock and progress reports for the management team.
Required profile
- Manufacturing or engineering background in purchasing or buying.
- Willingness to work onsite in a production environment.
- Experience in purchasing or supply chain functions.
- Strong communication skills and high attention to detail.
Required skills
- Knowledge of MRP systems.
- Experience with ERP platforms, specifically Nav Dynamics.
What we offer
- Working hours: Mon‑Thu 8:30‑16:30, Fri 8:30‑14:00.
- On‑site parking.
- 25 days holiday plus a Christmas shutdown.
