Engineering Supervisor

About the role

The Engineering Supervisor will support the Maintenance Manager in delivering a robust maintenance strategy for a busy poultry processing site. This hands‑on role combines planning, delegation and direct engineering work to keep equipment reliable, safe and cost‑effective.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Maintenance Manager with proactive, planned preventative and reactive maintenance programmes.
• Plan, allocate and supervise daily tasks for shift engineers, ensuring completion and sign‑off.
• Drive continuous improvement of equipment availability and reliability.
• Ensure compliance with engineering specifications, health & safety policies and relevant legislation.
• Implement the maintenance strategy using best‑practice tools, setting clear milestones and targets.
• Facilitate staff training and provide manufacturer‑approved instructions.
• Promote a “clean as you go” mindset, reducing waste and protecting product stock and equipment.
• Collaborate with all departments to reduce complaints and non‑conformances.
• Undertake planned maintenance tasks and remedial engineering works as directed.
• Communicate safety or equipment failure risks promptly to management.
• Minimise plant downtime by responding quickly to breakdowns and logging maintenance activities.

Required profile

• Experience in an engineering or maintenance environment within food manufacturing.
• Ability to plan, organise and delegate work effectively.
• Strong focus on health, safety and environmental compliance.
• Proactive attitude towards continuous improvement and cost reduction.
