Engineering Team Lead / Manager

About the role

Smarkets is looking for an Engineering Team Lead/Manager to guide a group of software engineers building the micro‑services that power our prediction‑market platform. Reporting to the VP of Engineering, you will shape the technical direction, support career growth and ensure our services remain responsive, scalable and high‑performing.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a team of engineers from junior to tech‑lead level, handling sprint planning and task scoping.
• Hire, mentor and retain talent, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
• Define and uphold engineering standards, improving processes and quality.
• Drive technical projects that deliver the product roadmap, collaborating with product managers and other engineering leaders.
• Explore and adopt new technologies to evolve the stack for future needs.

Required profile

• 3+ years experience building micro‑services for high‑speed, high‑scale products.
• 3+ years working with modern languages such as Rust, C++, Java, or similar.
• Proven experience leading engineering teams, either technically or directly.
