Engineering Team Leader – Shift

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Team Leader to manage a shift crew in a fast‑paced food manufacturing environment. This hands‑on position combines technical problem‑solving with people leadership to minimise downtime and uphold safety, quality and engineering standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop a team of engineers on a rotating 4‑on‑4‑off shift pattern.
• Provide technical support to resolve breakdowns and implement preventative measures.
• Ensure all Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM), work orders and breakdowns are completed and closed.
• Collaborate with production during start‑up and daily operations.
• Maintain high standards of health & safety, hygiene and food safety.
• Update the Holistech system accurately for all work performed.
• Deliver shift reports and conduct effective handovers.
• Drive continuous improvement to reduce downtime and costs.
• Keep engineering areas audit‑ready with strong housekeeping.

Required profile

• Recognised qualification in Electrical and/or Mechanical Engineering.
• Broad multi‑skilled engineering knowledge (electrical & mechanical).
• Experience leading or supporting a team in a manufacturing setting.
• Good IT proficiency, preferably with Holistech or similar systems.
• Strong problem‑solving orientation with a results focus.
• Willingness to work rotating shifts.
• Desirable: experience in FMCG or chilled food environments and prior shift‑leadership roles.
