Engineering Technician

About the role

We are looking for a hands‑on Engineering Technician to join our growing engineering team in Bedford. Reporting to the Product Engineering Manager, you will support the development and reliability testing of innovative electronic products, ensuring they meet the highest quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out daily equipment checks and basic maintenance to keep test rigs operational.
• Prepare product samples for testing, including marking, board mounting and pre‑conditioning.
• Perform electrical, thermal and mechanical reliability testing within defined timeframes.
• Conduct detailed visual inspections using microscopes to identify defects.
• Design, build and maintain test boards and fixtures used in product testing.
• Edit and maintain test programmes for automated test equipment.
• Record, analyse and maintain test results using Microsoft Excel and engineering documentation systems.
• Manage wafer sample storage with accurate logging and traceability.
• Support product development by providing accurate test data and technical feedback.
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping, quality, health and safety in the laboratory.

Required profile

• GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths, English and a Science subject preferred.
• Previous experience in an engineering, electronics, manufacturing or clean‑room environment.
• Experience preparing test samples or handling test equipment.
