English Lecturer (Variable Hours)

About the role

We are seeking an enthusiastic English Lecturer to join the cross‑college English team at Leeds College of Building. You will teach GCSE and Functional Skills English to a diverse cohort of learners, including 16‑18 year‑olds, apprentices and adult students, on a variable‑hour basis.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, deliver and assess high‑quality GCSE English Language and Functional Skills lessons.
• Support learners of mixed ability, fostering progress and confidence.
• Contribute to raising achievement and removing barriers to learning.
• Collaborate with colleagues to develop curriculum and share best practice.

Required profile

• Passionate about teaching and improving student outcomes.
• Confident working with post‑16 learners of mixed ability.
• Highly organised, proactive and collaborative.

Required skills

• Ability to teach GCSE English Language.
• Ability to teach Functional Skills English.
