English Teacher – Secondary School (KS3/KS4)

About the role

We are seeking a passionate English Teacher to join a good‑rated secondary school in Harlow. The role is full‑time, Monday to Friday, teaching students aged 11‑16 across Key Stages 3 and 4. You will help learners develop strong reading, writing, speaking and analytical skills while fostering a love of literature.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and deliver engaging, differentiated English lessons for KS3 and KS4.
• Assess, monitor and record student progress, providing targeted feedback.
• Create a positive, inclusive classroom environment that encourages participation.
• Collaborate with the English department and wider school staff on curriculum development and intervention programmes.
• Contribute to extracurricular activities and enrichment opportunities related to English.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.
• A degree in English or a related subject.
• Proven experience teaching English at secondary level (KS3/KS4).
• Strong classroom management and organisational abilities.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
