About the role
We are looking for an enthusiastic English Teaching Assistant to support KS3‑KS4 students in a high‑performing secondary school in Hackney. The role runs from September 2026 to July 2027 on a full‑time, fixed‑term basis, with strong potential for extension.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver targeted small‑group and one‑to‑one literacy interventions for Year 8‑10 pupils.
- Assist students with SEND to engage fully in English lessons.
- Work closely with classroom teachers to monitor and record progress in reading and writing.
- Support the school’s structured literacy programmes and intervention strategies.
Required profile
- Strong English‑related degree from a recognised university.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Demonstrated experience working with young people in a child‑centred setting.
- Initiative, patience and a genuine interest in education.
Required skills
- Knowledge of literacy intervention techniques.
- Familiarity with supporting SEND students.
