Enterprise Architect

About the role

GCHQ is seeking an experienced Enterprise Architect to lead and support architectural design across one or more departments. You will work closely with senior leaders, delivery teams and external partners to shape the agency’s enterprise architecture and ensure alignment with strategic goals.

Key responsibilities

• Define, design and maintain architecture artifacts for programmes and services within assigned departments.
• Influence decision‑making, manage risk and provide trusted advice to a wide range of stakeholders.
• Collaborate with engineers, business colleagues and senior leaders to align solutions with user needs and industry best practice.
• Take line‑management responsibility for a small team, supporting their work and career development.
• Occasionally travel to UK sites to facilitate close collaboration with colleagues.

Required profile

• Proven experience as an Enterprise Architect, including leading or line‑managing teams.
• Strong ability to communicate complex architectural concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
• Demonstrated track record of delivering architecture that balances organisational priorities with practical delivery.
• Commitment to GCHQ’s mission of protecting the UK from cyber‑threats, terrorism and espionage.
