Equipment Technician – Fire Service Workshop

About the role

The Surrey Fire and Rescue Service is looking for an Equipment Technician to join its Reigate workshop team. You will maintain, repair and inspect fire service equipment and machinery, ensuring readiness for emergency response across Surrey.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out repair, maintenance and inspection of fire service equipment and machinery to agreed standards.
• Perform on‑station equipment inspections and ensure operational readiness.
• Support fleet and equipment availability for emergency response, including working additional hours during incidents.
• Travel to various locations across Surrey as required.
• Assist the Service’s apprentice programme by sharing technical knowledge.

Required profile

• Full clean UK driving licence (Category B) with no disqualifications.
• Experience conducting routine engineering inspections and servicing of equipment/machinery.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a small team.
• Willingness to obtain and maintain operational qualifications (e.g., Working at Height, LOLER, PAT, gas detector calibration).
