ERAS Nurse – Neurosurgery (Fixed‑Term)

About the role

The NHS Scotland is seeking a dedicated ERAS Nurse to lead the implementation and embedding of Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) programmes within the Neurosurgery department. This fixed‑term position focuses on simple spinal and intracranial procedures, ensuring sustainable, evidence‑based practice.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and maintain ERAS pathways for neurosurgical patients.
• Provide specialist advice to healthcare professionals, patients, carers and external agencies.
• Lead service improvement initiatives, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to evaluate and update guidelines and policies.
• Identify, plan and participate in audit and research activities that support service development.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including PVG Scheme membership.

Required profile

• Registered nurse with experience in neurosurgery or related surgical specialties.
• Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and lead multidisciplinary projects.
• Eligibility to work in the United Kingdom and willingness to undergo PVG Scheme registration.
