Escalator Engineer – Maintenance & Service

About the role

Join Schindler’s Cardiff team as an Escalator Engineer, responsible for keeping escalator equipment operating safely and efficiently. You will perform routine servicing, diagnose faults, and ensure all work complies with company safety and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out routine servicing and minor repairs on escalator equipment, following approved procedures and using required PPE and tools.
• Diagnose breakdowns, perform fault finding, and restore equipment to service using technical manuals and test equipment.
• Inspect, adjust, and reinstate escalators, verifying speed, motor operation, noise, temperature and power supply.
• Complete service documentation and maintain accurate records of work performed.
• Collaborate with clients, service leaders and inspectors, communicating findings and actions clearly.

Required profile

• Experience in escalator servicing, maintenance or repairs (preferred).
• Qualified to at least NVQ Level 3 in escalator maintenance or equivalent.
• Advanced knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems, including multi‑brand equipment.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and operate independently with a flexible approach.
