Estates Technician – School Estate Maintenance

About the role

Join a large secondary school estate as an Estates Technician, supporting daily operations and ensuring a safe, secure, and well‑maintained environment for over 1,500 students and staff. Working a 6:30 am – 2:30 pm shift, you will be the first point of contact each day, preparing the site for teaching and learning.

Key responsibilities

• Open and prepare the school site each morning, checking security and safety systems.
• Carry out planned and reactive maintenance, including basic plumbing, electrical, painting and general repairs.
• Support contractors, monitor works and ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
• Assist with school events, lettings and room set‑ups.
• Respond to site‑related issues and maintain accurate records of work performed.

Required profile

• Experience in facilities, maintenance, caretaking, estates or a similar practical environment.
• Ability to work independently, take ownership of tasks and follow health‑and‑safety procedures.
• Good communication skills for liaising with staff, contractors and visitors.
