Estimator – Public & Private Sector Projects

About the role

We are seeking an Estimator to join a fast‑growing main contractor with a strong foothold in the public sector and an expanding private‑sector portfolio. The role will involve shaping bid strategies, supporting growth, and influencing market presence across a range of construction projects.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost plans and estimates for public and private sector projects.
• Lead and support 2‑stage tender processes and competitive single‑stage bids.
• Interpret drawings, specifications and employer requirements to produce accurate take‑offs.
• Price tenders from first principles and engage supply‑chain partners to build competitive bids.
• Provide value‑engineering, buildability input and identify commercial risks and opportunities.
• Support handover from pre‑construction to delivery teams.

Required profile

• Proven experience as an Estimator for a main contractor.
• Experience with public‑sector frameworks (education, healthcare, local authority).
• Strong background in 2‑stage tendering and private‑sector competitive bids.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management abilities.
• Commercially minded, proactive and ambitious to grow with the business.
