Events Fundraising Officer – Maternity Cover

About the role

Christian Aid is seeking an Events Fundraising Officer on a 12‑month maternity cover to strengthen its event and DIY fundraising portfolio. Working under the National Events Manager, you will recruit, engage and support supporters, churches and volunteers to maximise participation in challenge events such as the London Marathon and Great North Run.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the challenge events portfolio, delivering events on time and within budget.
• Support planning and delivery of Christian Aid’s owned event portfolio.
• Develop and implement volunteer recruitment, recognition and retention plans.
• Grow DIY church fundraising, acquiring new supporters and deepening church engagement.
• Respond to enquiries about challenge events, DIY fundraising and volunteering, providing clear and timely advice.

Required profile

• Experience in event coordination, fundraising or volunteer management, preferably within the charitable sector.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to build relationships with supporters, churches and volunteers.
• Ability to work flexibly, meet deadlines and manage budgets.
