Events Officer – Temporary (Edinburgh)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Events Officer to join the City of Edinburgh Council’s events operations team on a six‑month fixed‑term contract. You will support the planning and delivery of high‑profile public and civic events across Edinburgh, helping to maintain the city’s reputation as a world‑leading cultural capital.

Key responsibilities

• Provide project management support for public event delivery and related workstreams.
• Carry out event assessments, inspections and reporting to ensure safety and compliance.
• Offer expert advice on event legislation, crowd management and best practice.
• Support EPOG and SAG processes, including meeting coordination and minute taking.
• Liaise with internal teams, emergency services and external partners to facilitate smooth event execution.
• Assist with reports, briefings, presentations and FOI requests for senior stakeholders.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and innovative project delivery.

Required profile

• Proven experience in managing large‑scale or public events.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Demonstrated project management experience with the capacity to juggle competing priorities.
• Ability to work in fast‑paced, operational environments.
• Understanding of event and crowd management principles (HND or equivalent desirable).
• Professional, organised and solution‑focused approach.
