Exam Access Arrangements Officer

About the role
We are seeking an Exam Access Arrangements Officer to join the Inclusive Learning team at New College Swindon. In this role you will ensure that learners with additional needs receive the appropriate support and accommodations for their examinations, contributing to an inclusive assessment environment.
Key responsibilities
- Coordinate referrals and appointments for exam access arrangements from staff, admissions, parents and external agencies.
- Gather, verify and maintain documentation required for access arrangement applications.
- Liaise with schools and awarding bodies to obtain prior assessment evidence.
- Submit online applications in line with JCQ and awarding body regulations.
- Maintain accurate learner records and ensure awarded arrangements are recorded in college systems.
- Work with teaching staff to collect evidence of learners’ normal working methods.
- Communicate approved arrangements to learners, parents and curriculum teams.
- Support the Exams team with preparation of modified papers, specialist equipment, additional invigilators and alternative venues.
- Provide training and support for assistive technologies such as reading pens and speech‑to‑text software.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of inclusive assessment practices.
Required profile
- Five GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade 4/C or above, including English and Maths.
- Experience in an administrative role with strong organisational and record‑keeping abilities.
- Experience supporting learners with SEND or additional learning needs.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of JCQ regulations and Access Arrangements Online is advantageous.
