Examinations Invigilator

About the role

Valley Park School is looking for an Examinations Invigilator to conduct examinations in line with JCQ, the awarding body and school instructions, helping to uphold the integrity of the assessment process. The post is based at the school, reports to the Examinations Officer and is casual hours.

Key responsibilities

• Before exams: brief yourself with the Examinations Officer, keep papers and materials secure, set out examination rooms, admit candidates, seat and instruct them, distribute papers and start the exams.
• During exams: supervise and observe candidates at all times, keep disruption to a minimum, handle emergencies and irregularities, record incidents, complete attendance registers and answer candidate questions in line with regulations.
• After exams: tell candidates how to finish, collect scripts and materials, check names against the attendance register and return everything securely to the Examinations Officer.
• Other duties: attend training and review sessions, and, where able, help with timetable clashes, access arrangements such as reading or scribing, and other exam-related admin.

Required profile

• GCSE English and Maths or equivalent.
• Experience of invigilation is desirable but not required, as training is provided.
• Reliable, flexible and available during main examination periods, able to stay calm and maintain an air of authority.
• Posts are subject to an Enhanced DBS disclosure; the role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act.

• Teamwork, effective communication and strong administrative skills.
