Exams Access Arrangements Assessor (Part‑time, Temp)

About the role

We are seeking a part‑time temporary Assessor to evaluate Exam Access Arrangements (EAA) for further‑education learners. Working within the Learning Support department, you will ensure that students with additional needs receive evidence‑based adjustments in line with JCQ regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct standardised assessments (reading accuracy, speed, writing speed, processing) and book EAA referrals.
• Gather and collate evidence – history of need, teacher observations, specialist reports, and student interviews – to complete JCQ Form 8, Form 8RF and Form 9.
• Upload documentation for the ALS Admin team to submit applications via the JCQ Access Arrangements Online portal.
• Recommend appropriate adjustments such as readers, scribes, extra time, rest breaks, word processors or modified papers and support their implementation in the classroom.
• Liaise with ALS Admin, external agencies and teaching staff, providing guidance on EAA eligibility and communicating outcomes to students and parents.
• Maintain audit‑ready records, uphold GDPR confidentiality and stay updated with changes to JCQ guidance.

Required profile

• Experience working in further‑education or learning‑support environments.
• Familiarity with JCQ regulations and exam accommodation processes.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate documentation.
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with students, parents and staff.
• Ability to work one day per week during term time, with peak periods in autumn‑spring.
