Executive Chef for Independent Preparatory School

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Executive Chef to lead the catering provision at a prestigious independent preparatory school in Buckhurst Hill. This senior role will shape a health‑focused, innovative dining culture for pupils, staff, parents and visitors.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the overall catering operation across the school site.
• Design and implement seasonal, nutritious and innovative menus for breakfast, lunch, snacks and special dietary needs.
• Oversee food preparation and service to the highest standards of quality and presentation.
• Manage and develop kitchen staff, providing leadership, training and performance management.
• Control food purchasing, supplier relationships and stock management.
• Maintain budgets while ensuring exceptional standards.
• Ensure compliance with food hygiene, health and safety, allergen management and safeguarding regulations.
• Develop sustainable purchasing and waste‑reduction initiatives.
• Provide catering for school events, open days, parent functions, celebrations and VIP visits.

Required profile

• Proven experience as an Executive Chef, Head Chef or senior kitchen leader.
• Track record of delivering high‑quality catering services within education, hospitality or private schools.
• Strong commitment to nutrition, quality ingredients and sustainability.
• Excellent organisational and leadership abilities.
