Experienced Floor Layer – Social Housing

About the role

Axis CLC is looking for an experienced Floor Layer to join its team delivering flooring solutions for social housing properties across the South East of England. You will work on occupied and void residential units, installing resilient floor coverings to a high standard while ensuring safety and compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare subfloors by cleaning, smoothing, levelling and carrying out minor repairs.
• Install flat‑lay vinyl flooring in kitchens, bathrooms, communal areas and other residential spaces.
• Fit cap and cove flooring systems, forming coves and welding joints to achieve watertight finishes.
• Perform hot and cold welding of vinyl flooring as required.
• Measure, cut and fit flooring materials accurately and efficiently.
• Maintain a clean, safe and tidy working environment within occupied homes.
• Complete job sheets, risk assessments and relevant paperwork accurately.
• Liaise professionally with tenants, supervisors and contract managers.

Required profile

• Proven experience installing flat‑lay vinyl and cap and cove flooring.
• Background working in social housing, local authority, healthcare or similar environments.
• Ability to prepare subfloors and use smoothing compounds effectively.
• Full UK driving licence and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• High attention to detail, reliability and strong customer service skills.
