Experienced Pest Control Technician

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Pest Control Technician to deliver front‑line pest management services for Southwark Council properties and public spaces across London. You will conduct inspections, investigations and treatments, ensuring compliance with legislation and best‑practice standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform site visits to council‑owned, private, communal and public locations to identify and assess pest infestations.
• Determine appropriate treatment or management techniques based on training, species biology and regulatory restrictions.
• Apply traps, culls, deterrents, pesticides and biocides safely in line with the British Pest Control Association Code of Practice.
• Survey properties (including drains) and recommend repair or structural measures to prevent future infestations.
• Prepare cost estimates, quotations and technical drawings for non‑standard requests.
• Carry out pest‑proofing work complying with fire‑safety guidance and CDM Regulations 2015.
• Organise and execute stray‑dog collection, kennel placement or re‑homing in accordance with legislation.
• Implement pigeon‑proofing measures and clean pigeon waste as required.

Required profile

• Proven experience in pest control and pest‑proofing within residential, commercial or public environments.
• Formal training and knowledge of relevant legislation, species biology and environmental protection considerations.
• Ability to work safely, humanely and independently while following industry codes.
• Strong communication skills for reporting findings and providing cost estimates.
