Experienced SEN Teaching Assistant – Islington (Full‑Time)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant to support students with special educational needs (SEN) in secondary schools across Islington. You will work closely with teachers and SENCOs to help pupils access the curriculum and achieve their potential.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support to pupils with Autism, ADHD, speech & language difficulties and SEMH challenges.
• Assist in mainstream lessons, ensuring adaptations are implemented effectively.
• Deliver targeted interventions in line with each pupil’s EHCP targets.
• Build positive relationships with students, families and staff.
• Monitor, record and report on pupil progress.

Required profile

• Previous experience supporting SEND students in a secondary school setting.
• Understanding of a range of additional needs, including Autism, ADHD, speech & language and SEMH.
• Patient, empathetic and adaptable approach.
• Strong behaviour management skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team.

Required skills

• Knowledge of EHCP implementation.
• Experience with classroom and intervention support techniques.
