Experienced Shearline Operator

About the role

Rainham Steel, a leading UK steel stockholder, is looking for an Experienced Shearline Operator to join its team at the Rainham depot in Essex. The role involves cutting rebar to schedule requirements while maintaining a safe and tidy work environment.

Key responsibilities

• Report to the warehouse manager and follow daily plans.
• Maintain a tidy and safe working environment.
• Cut steel rebar on an automatic cutting machine according to schedule.
• Assess work and optimise cutting from stock lengths to minimise scrap.
• Assemble bundles for packing.
• Handle reasonable manual loads safely.
• Provide paid overtime when required.

Required profile

• Outstanding attention to detail.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Organised, motivated and reliable time‑keeper.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast‑paced environment.
• Good command of the English language.

Required skills

• Operating automatic cutting machines.
• Optimising steel cutting to minimise scrap.
