Experienced Social Worker – Child Protection

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Social Worker to join the Child Protection team of Wrexham County Borough Council. The role focuses on safeguarding children and young people, delivering high‑quality assessments, care planning and direct interventions to reduce risk.

Key responsibilities

• Work collaboratively with children, families and partner agencies at child protection and care proceedings level.
• Undertake statutory duties including assessments, care and support planning, and direct work to improve outcomes.
• Manage a varied caseload while maintaining accurate records and reports.
• Participate in multi‑agency meetings and, when required, court proceedings.
• Engage with families subject to Child Protection Plans and CASP, delivering all associated tasks.

Required profile

• Motivated individual committed to improving outcomes for children and young people.
• Strong anti‑discriminatory and anti‑oppressive approach.
• Excellent assessment skills and sound knowledge of safeguarding thresholds.
• Ability to manage a caseload and produce high‑quality documentation.
• Confidence working in multi‑agency settings and court environments.
