External Sales Executive (Field-Based)

About the role

Hayley Dexis is seeking a full‑time External Sales Executive to support its Bury St Edmunds branch. You will be on the road across Suffolk, Essex and Cambridgeshire, managing existing accounts and generating new business in a diverse range of sectors, from agriculture and food to quarrying and bespoke manufacturers.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and grow relationships with existing customers, identifying upsell opportunities.
• Prospect and acquire new customers through cold‑calling, door‑to‑door visits and networking.
• Cover the assigned territory efficiently, meeting weekly and monthly sales targets.
• Develop strong product knowledge of engineering consumables and related manufacturing solutions.
• Report sales activity, forecast revenue and participate in the on‑call rota after the initial settling period.

Required profile

• High motivation and enthusiasm for driving sales.
• Good systems knowledge and IT proficiency.
• Prior external sales experience, preferably within engineering consumables or manufacturing.
• Confident communicator comfortable with cold‑calling across industries.
• Ability to work autonomously and thrive in a target‑driven environment.
