Extrusion Operator / Team Leader

About the role

We are recruiting a hands‑on Extrusion Operator / Team Leader to play a key role in developing a growing extrusion operation at a well‑established manufacturer. The position combines technical expertise with the chance to support and guide a small production team.

Key responsibilities

• Set up and operate rubber extrusion machinery.
• Prepare raw materials and ensure the correct rubber compounds are used.
• Monitor machine performance and adjust settings to maintain product quality.
• Carry out efficient product changeovers.
• Perform quality inspections using measuring equipment.
• Troubleshoot production issues and work closely with engineering to minimise downtime.
• Support and motivate colleagues throughout the shift.
• Assist with work allocation to meet production schedules.
• Complete production documentation accurately.
• Promote excellent housekeeping and health & safety standards.
• Support continuous improvement and Lean manufacturing initiatives.

Required profile

• Previous experience operating rubber extrusion machinery.
• Team Leader or supervisory experience (advantageous).
• Strong understanding of rubber compounds and extrusion processes.
• Experience using measuring equipment such as calipers and profile gauges.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and specifications.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
• Proactive approach with a strong commitment to quality and safety.
