Facilities and Compliance Officer

About the role

As a member of the Capital Development Team at Westonbirt National Arboretum, you will ensure that the estate’s 30+ built assets meet health, safety, environmental and security standards. Reporting to the district Building Surveyor, you will act as the key link between site teams and the Estates department.

Key responsibilities

• Lead statutory and mandatory compliance for the built estate, covering fire, asbestos, legionella, electrical, DSEAR, gas and LOLER regulations.
• Conduct routine monitoring and contract‑manage mechanical and electrical servicing where required.
• Monitor and record contractor health‑and‑safety and environmental performance, ensuring work is carried out to approved standards.
• Maintain accurate records in the GIS and SharePoint property management system.
• Carry out security risk assessments and oversee security arrangements for buildings.
• Forecast budgets, process invoices, purchase orders and procure works via contracts and frameworks.

Required profile

• Experience in facilities or building compliance within a public or large‑scale estate.
• Knowledge of UK health and safety legislation relevant to buildings.
• Ability to work autonomously and liaise with multiple internal and external stakeholders.
