Facilities Assistant / Caretaker

About the role

This permanent position supports the smooth operation and upkeep of a busy site in Totton. You will work on‑site, performing routine maintenance and ensuring the environment is safe, clean and ready for daily activities.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out general maintenance tasks and minor repairs.
• Keep the site clean, safe and well‑presented at all times.
• Conduct regular inspections and report any issues.
• Set up rooms for events or meetings.
• Monitor and maintain heating, lighting and security systems.
• Support health and safety compliance, including fire safety checks.
• Liaise with contractors and suppliers as required.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a caretaker, facilities or maintenance role is desirable.
• Practical DIY skills and the ability to perform basic repairs.
• Strong attention to detail and a proactive problem‑solving attitude.
• Good communication skills and a team‑player mindset.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Full UK driving licence (essential).
• Enhanced DBS check will be required for successful candidates.
