Facilities Engineer Placement – 12.5‑month Internship

About the role

The Technical Facilities Engineering team at Airbus is seeking a Facilities Engineer Placement for 12.5 months in Filton. This internship offers hands‑on experience supporting the operation, maintenance and improvement of Airbus’s manufacturing and testing sites while contributing to sustainability goals.

Key responsibilities

• Support projects from feasibility studies through handover, ensuring health and safety compliance.
• Assist in maintaining and troubleshooting complex site infrastructure and managing subcontractors.
• Collaborate with senior engineers to analyse facility performance data and help prepare OPEX and CAPEX budgets.
• Identify and support sustainability initiatives such as energy‑efficiency upgrades and carbon‑reduction projects.
• Track the impact of facility modifications, report on sustainability metrics and define KPIs like maintenance downtime.
• Contribute to tender documentation by providing specification requirements.
• Participate in site audits, safety reviews and compliance activities.

Required profile

• Currently studying towards a degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Building Services or a closely related discipline.
• Strong interest in data analysis, continuous improvement and environmental sustainability.
• Good communication skills with the ability to convey technical information to diverse stakeholders.
• Effective organisational and time‑management abilities.
