Facilities Maintenance Operative – Leeds

About the role

Join a well‑established higher education organisation in Leeds as a Facilities Maintenance Operative. You will help keep multiple city‑centre campuses safe, functional and welcoming for students, staff and visitors.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out general building repairs and minor refurbishments.
• Perform plant‑room and building management system checks.
• Support statutory compliance activities and health‑and‑safety procedures.
• Assist with room and event set‑ups.
• Manage on‑site contractors and maintain accurate maintenance records.
• Contribute to campus security and overall safety.

Required profile

• Previous experience in building maintenance, facilities, estates or property maintenance.
• Practical ability across electrical, plumbing, decorating and general repairs.
• Good knowledge of health and safety best practices in a facilities environment.
• Experience liaising with contractors and monitoring works.
• Ability to prioritise reactive issues and work on a call‑out rota.
• Strong communication and customer‑focused attitude.
• Competent IT skills and experience with maintenance management or help‑desk systems.
• Full UK driving licence is advantageous.
