Facilities Maintenance Technician (Plumbing Biased)

About the role

As a Facilities Maintenance Technician with a plumbing focus, you will support the Maintenance Operations Manager in delivering both planned and reactive maintenance across the Manufacturing Technology Centre’s facilities. The role ensures equipment reliability, compliance with health and safety standards, and contributes to continuous improvement of the maintenance function.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and breakdown repairs on plant and facility equipment.
• Perform weekly flushing and monthly temperature testing as part of legionella management procedures.
• Diagnose faults and troubleshoot mechanical and facility‑related issues.
• Respond to maintenance requests and emergency breakdowns across the site.
• Work closely with contractors to ensure safe completion of maintenance and repair activities to MTC standards.
• Complete statutory inspections and maintain accurate service reports and maintenance records.
• Use CAFM systems to manage and update work orders.
• Support continuous improvement and problem‑solving activities within the maintenance function.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a maintenance position.
• Relevant Level 3 qualification in a related discipline.
• Strong practical maintenance and fault‑finding skills.
• Ability to work at height.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Flexibility to participate in a 24/7 standby rota for emergency call‑outs.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical schematics.
• Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop.
