Facilities Technician – Southampton Docks

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Facilities Technician to join the team at Southampton Docks, supporting the UK’s cruise industry. You will work on‑site ensuring cruise berths are ready, maintaining essential equipment and responding to breakdowns to guarantee smooth arrivals and departures.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and service cruise ship berths and associated infrastructure.
• Maintain and inspect essential dock equipment, including electrical, hydraulic and mechanical systems.
• Diagnose and resolve equipment faults quickly to minimise disruption.
• Work at height and in confined spaces as required.
• Collaborate with the operations team to ensure safety and compliance with port regulations.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Facilities Technician, Maintenance Technician or similar role.
• 17th Edition (or 18th Edition) electrical certification – 18th Edition is a plus.
• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Ability to work at height safely.
• Proactive attitude with strong fault‑finding abilities.

Required skills

• Electrical installation and maintenance (17th/18th Edition).
• Mechanical and hydraulic system troubleshooting.
• Use of diagnostic tools and fault‑finding equipment.
