Facility Supervisor (Caretaker) – Hadrian School

About the role

The Facility Supervisor (Caretaker) will be based at Hadrian School in Benwell, providing day‑to‑day building management and security. Working a split‑shift pattern, you will ensure the premises are safe, secure and well‑maintained for staff, pupils and visitors.

Key responsibilities

• Secure the school premises, set and monitor alarms.
• Address health and safety issues and carry out routine safety checks.
• Perform porterage duties, including moving equipment, furniture and supplies.
• Supervise cleaning staff and oversee the cleaning of assigned areas.
• Manage time effectively and adapt to variable workloads, especially during key school events.
• Provide lettings support for the school when required.

Required profile

• Strong communication skills and the ability to work with limited supervision.
• Physical capability to stoop, bend, lift, carry equipment and climb ladders.
• Willingness to work split‑shift hours (Monday‑Thursday 07:00‑09:30, Friday closing).
• Previous caretaking experience in a school is advantageous.
• Enthusiastic, hardworking and able to build positive relationships with staff, children and parents.
