Family Lawyer – 2+ PQE – Leeds

About the role

This is an excellent opportunity for a Family Lawyer with at least two years post‑qualification experience to join a Legal 500 and Chambers ranked firm in Leeds. The role combines high‑quality legal aid work with private practice, offering hybrid working and clear pathways for long‑term career progression.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a varied caseload of publicly funded and privately funded family matters.
• Advise clients on Care Proceedings, Public Law Outline (PLO) matters, Private Children Act proceedings, and domestic abuse applications such as Non‑Molestation and Occupation Orders.
• Handle broader family law issues including cohabitation and disputes between unmarried couples.
• Undertake advocacy, represent clients at hearings, and develop strong client relationships.
• Contribute to department growth through networking and business development.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years PQE with experience in family and childcare law.
• Strong understanding of legal aid and ability to manage a caseload with minimal supervision.
• Advocacy experience is highly desirable.
• Existing client following or progress towards panel accreditation viewed favorably.
• Commercially aware, proactive, and excellent communication skills.

Required skills

• Legal research and case management.
• Advocacy and courtroom representation.
• In‑depth knowledge of family law procedures (Care Proceedings, PLO, Private Children Act, Domestic Abuse Orders).
• Familiarity with legal aid regulations.
